Badou Senegalese Cuisine - Chicago
Senegalese cuisine gets the spotlight at this Rogers Park storefront eatery. Badou also specializes in soul food, Jamaican and vegetarian fare.
Specialty dishes at Badou are a big draw. The "soul food delight" combines West African and Southern cuisines, which includes black-eyed peas, collard and mustard greens, and smoked turkey "with a Senegalese twist." There's also mafe lamb of peanut butter stew cooked with lamb, sweet potatoes and carrots. And jollof rice contains jasmine rice with carrots, cabbage, eggplant and squash served with a choice of whole fish or jerk chicken.
There are no alcoholic beverages on the menu, however, Badou offers two signature, spirit-free sippers: a ginger cocktail of homemade ginger drink with fresh pineapple or bissap, a homemade hibiscus drink.
