Chicago Restaurant Week / Chicago Chef’s Week

When it comes to Restaurant Week and Chef’s Week, Chicago foodies start counting the days to next year’s biggest fine dining events right after they finish. Every year Restaurant Week and Chef’s Week in Chicago give diners in the area a chance to taste some of the Windy City’s finest cuisines at nominal price.

Chicago Restaurant Week consist of two weeks of dining deals from more than 270 of Chicago’s best-rated restaurants. Lunch and dinner menus from more than 200 restaurants in the area are discounted generously, making it easy for food lovers to take advantage of some of the best of what they have to offer. The menus that are available are as diverse as the restaurants themselves.

Past participants included Bistronomic offering French/American cuisine; Gene and Georgetti, Harry Caray’s, and Tavern on Rush for steak; and Spiaggia with Italian classics, to name just a few.

Chicago’s Chef’s Week typically is hosted in the spring with more than 85 restaurants providing interested guests to try a three-course meal at lunch and a four-course dinner at a reasonable price. Award winning chefs allow the public to try their tasty delectables, much to the delight of Chicago residents and visitors alike.

Exceptional restaurants that have join the event in the recent past include GT Fish & Oyster, Japonais by Morimoto, Blackbird, RPM Steak, and Nightwood, among others.

So which is more anticipated? Chicago’s Chef’s Week or Restaurant Week? Technically, the same ideas and practices are observed with the major difference between the two being who the organizers are. Chicago Restaurant Week is put on by the city of Chicago while Chefs Week is as a result of the local food businesses in Chicago wanting to highlight the creativity of some of the exquisite dishes prepared and served by top chefs at these restaurants.
